The anomalous Cepheid XZ Ceti
Aims. XZ Ceti is the only known anomalous Cepheid in the Galactic field. Being the nearest and brightest such variable star, a detailed study of XZ Ceti may shed light on the behaviour of anomalous Cepheids whose representatives have been mostly detected in external galaxies. Methods. CCD photometric and radial velocity observations have been obtained. The actual period and amplitude of pulsati...
متن کاملTriple - Mode Cepheid Masses
Observations of the light variations of AC Andromedae and TU Cassiopeiae are reviewed. The radial fundamental, first overtone, second overtone, and three nonlinear coupling beat pulsation periods of AC And are presented, confirming the Fitch and Szeidl work. For TU Cas the radial fundamental, first overtone, and several nonlinear coupling beat periods can be found, and a Fourier analysis has co...
متن کاملReconstructing Cepheid Light Curve with Fourier Techniques II: Catalogue of the Fourier Parameters for OGLE LMC Fundamental Mode Cepheids
In this paper we present a catalogue of the Fourier parameters for the light curves of Large Magellanic Cloud fundamental mode Cepheids in the OGLE database. These Fourier parameters are obtained with a simulated annealing method. The photometric data are mainly fit with 4 to 8-order Fourier expansion, though some of the long period Cepheids require up to a 12-order fit to the data.
متن کاملThe Double-Mode Cepheid V371 Persei Redux
A metallicity of 1⁄2Fe=H 1⁄4 0:05 to 0:40 was derived from four spectra of the peculiar beat Cepheid V371 Per. This conflicts with previous estimates ranging from 0:7 to 1:0 based on the period ratio. It is suggested that the discrepancy may be resolved by assuming near solar metallicity but a low mass. This is in accord with a suggestion by Sandage and Tammann that the AHB3 (or BL Her) stars a...
متن کاملISOLATION AND STRUCTURAL ELUCIDATION OF THE FIRST KNOWN C-HOMOPROTOBERBERINE
A novel C-homoprotoberberine alkaloid, Hediamine (2), has been isolated from the roots of Berberis actinucantha (Berberidaceae). Conclusive proof for the structure of hediamine was obtained by its comparison with the isomeric lactam (4), by chemical transformation, and by means of spectroscopic techniques (UV, IR, MS, NMR).
